I know what you’re saying! You’re saying, “Jeeze, I really want to help make this film happen, BUT HOW?! What can I do? All I have is this bloated financial portfolio! And this checkbook. And this pen!”
Well, have I got an opportunity for you!
Without employing the “student bonus” and without making allowances for discounts from the manufacturer, one roll of Kodak 7218 16mm negative film stock costs $141.92. That’s 400 feet of film per roll, which translates to about 11 minutes of raw footage.
Using the rates I got working with the footage we shot in July ’04, processing this film costs 13 cents per foot, $52.00 per roll.
Telecine transfer for that footage cost me 19 cents per foot, or $76.00 per roll.
So, to bring 11 minutes of film footage to life (shooting, processing and digital transfer), it costs approximately $270.00. Of course, this does not address the cost of renting gear, paying a crew to actually shoot the film, etc., but I want to give YOU, the donor, a feeling of having contributed something tangible to this independent film: i.e. ONE ROLL OF FILM.
Therefore, I am now offering you the opportunity to join a very exclusive club: THE WALT MINK DOCUMENTARY’S 400 FOOT CLUB!
Members may join at one of three levels:
Bronze Member: $141.92 [400 Feet of Film]
Silver Member: $193.92 [Film & Processing]
Gold Mountain Member: $269.92 [Film, Processing & Transfer--WOW!]
Additionally, you may contribute any other dollar amount to join the Beautiful Human club.
Our Film Donation Goal: 30 Rolls!!!
So in fact, i have 68 400-foot rolls of film and an additional 12 100-foot loads -- a mere 26,895 feet of rock.
Also, did you know the matinee was shot on Black & White film with three cameras?
And, did you know that the late show was shot on color film with four cameras?
Last: did you know we filmed the band's interview and performance on 89.3 The Current?
It's all true!
HOWly crap! How can I help?!!
