FOOTAGE ALERT:
Get your movie on. [15 megs. Quicktime]
As most of you know, we put together a show here in Brooklyn last July. We lined up the shoot in about a week, relying mostly on footage from 16mm film cameras, backing that up with video, super 8, etc.; and documented John and Candice’s set.
That show/shoot will be our template for this one, only this show will be bigger, louder—and with drums. And it’s in Minnesota. And we’re burning 3X the film.

Wow, this gives me chills to see this...remembering the last time I saw them at 7th Street Entry....Except now I'm sober and a dozen years older. Its nice to see how John & Candace have grown as people in the intervening years also.

who's drumming at the show?
Posted by: joel | April 30, 2005 at 03:38 PM
Mr. Zach Danziger will be beating the shit out of the drums.
Posted by: Butler | April 30, 2005 at 04:36 PM
You're probably all over this, but let me know if you need opening bands.
Posted by: Charles | May 01, 2005 at 10:36 AM
I sorta thought you'd pull this off, but not really. I'm very impressed. Congrats!
The preview footage/preformace is great.
Posted by: Zadroga | May 02, 2005 at 11:20 AM
Great footage from Pete's! It reminds me of how herioc Candace's bass playing is.
See you at the Triple Rock. My car will be the one with a fresh splatter of bugs all over the Colorado plates.

I've been waiting so long for this and I didn't get tickets.
I think I'm going to cry.
Any chance there might be another show added? Perhaps a bigger venue? I'd be happy to set it up... First Ave, Cabooze, Target Center ;-)
Posted by: Jeremy | May 12, 2005 at 02:25 PM
Here's a second -- and final -- chance at tickets. See you there.
Posted by: Butler | May 13, 2005 at 12:07 AM
I'm not crying anymore.
Not only did I get tickets for the just announced matinee show but a friend of a friend hooked me up for the late one too!!!
You can't overdose on this stuff, can you? ;-)
Posted by: Jeremy | May 13, 2005 at 05:50 PM
Glad you could hook it up.
Posted by: butler | May 13, 2005 at 06:07 PM
thanks for the second show (main benefit to this one? it's all ages)!
Posted by: t | May 16, 2005 at 11:41 PM
I love Zach, truly... But you really should try to get the Joey thing happening... For one day only? They can stand each other for that long, especially when so many asses will be thoroughly kicked. The dude's rich, he can fly to Minneapolis (and to NYC for rehearsal).
Posted by: Anonymass | May 17, 2005 at 02:07 PM
That sounds so easy!
Posted by: Butler | May 17, 2005 at 02:54 PM
Well, Butler, have you begged and pleaded and said "for the love of fucking GOD, Waronker, you've played these songs eighteen billion times and if you play them just this once more my movie will have a fucking rad ending"? Or if it's John holding things up, tell him to stop being a wuss. Everyone wants classic Walt Mink. Yeah, the El Producto tunes will be missed but... fuuuuuck... Proper Mink would be soooooo sweet.
Posted by: anonymasshole | May 17, 2005 at 06:59 PM
Hey...do I know you?
Posted by: Butler | May 17, 2005 at 07:25 PM
define "know".
Posted by: lickmyanonymass | May 18, 2005 at 12:33 PM
You, sir, are a dildo. Email me directly. Thank you.
Posted by: Butler | May 18, 2005 at 12:36 PM
I mean that in the nicest possible way, by the way.
Posted by: Butler | May 18, 2005 at 12:44 PM
I don't need to email you privately to know the truth. Waronker's lost touch with the streets, his roots. His roots in the streets. The streets of a liberal arts college in St. Paul. He's forgotten the struggle, he's forgotten the streets.
And the kids? Dead to him.

ah to see the band again at a place like Jabberjaw in LA. sigh.
p.s. this is not an original walt mink shirt on ebay, is it? i don't remember the balloon animal looking so lame. i think mine was just a pink balloon animal with no background. i wish it was still around today...

well, i guess you can't post links so here is the ebay item number if you want to see it: Ebay Item # 7516056336 - and NO! i am not the one selling it.
Posted by: kabbage | May 18, 2005 at 04:04 PM
Let's be nice, now.

I just won the ebay auction! The pic looks like the UK tour poster (I have one framed!). Will let y'all know if it is a ratty old copy.

It is a distinct possibility that I will have 1 ticket available for the evening show. I am not looking for anything but face value + 1 gratitude beer. Biggest sob story gets it.
Posted by: Ryan | June 13, 2005 at 04:11 PM
Okay, Ryan. . .here goes. . .I just finished ten months of cancer treatment and wanted to celebrate by going to a concert. One that would be as amazing as possible to equal the experience as coming through treatment sucessfully. Two days ago I was trying to think of which band could provide that level of performance for me. Number one on my list? Walt Mink. I sighed. . .then said I would do anything just to hear them play live once again. So can I buy you that beer?
Posted by: gal500 | June 15, 2005 at 03:25 PM
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely going to the show. But to what extent will this weekend's footage be available at a later time? I guess not to sound like a doubter, but what are the chances that the documentary will be readily available at some point in the future? I believe in the cause, but if there's doubt of production, maybe it would make sense to consider just marketing the video from the show?
Mink rocks.

Shows are tomorrow.
!!!
Posted by: Butler | June 16, 2005 at 08:32 AM
I can't fucking believe this is happening and I won't be there. Makes me sick, it does.
And I wouldn't even need a ticket, as I'd get in free seeing as I'll probably be in the fucking movie...

Is anyone else traveling a mammoth distance for this? I leave from Denver to-nite with hopes of making it into Minneapolis in time for dinner...and a show.
Posted by: tom | June 16, 2005 at 06:23 PM
extra tix
I might have one or 2 extra tickets for the late show. Only hitch is that I have to pick them up from will call. But if you are interested in a ticket, possibly 2, send me an email and perhaps we can work something out other than me randomly selling the tix on the street
Posted by: Doug B | June 16, 2005 at 08:47 PM
I live in the black hole of So.MN and just found out about the show today!! I'd looove to go-haven't seen them since, oh, 1995? Let me know if anyone would have the 10pm tickets available since I'll be chained to my desk until 5:30.
Posted by: Nicole | June 17, 2005 at 10:02 AM
Chris, you are truly incredible. I could barely dream that such a show would ever take place. The real think was even finer than I could have hoped. May your footage be gorgeous, your sound perfect, your donations plentiful, and your karmic rewards everlasting. It was a treat to finally meet you in person.
